New comScore data shows Android holds first position as smartphone OS in US

Comscore has unveiled its latest report on the market share of smartphone in the United States, this time for May 2014. The new illumination shows Android staying on top of the smartphone OS market with a 52.1 percent.

Android didn't demonstrate any growth or loss in its user market share on the time span between February and May, however iOS, attained its market share rising from 41.3 percent to 41.9 percent in the same time span. Windows Phone occupies third position and its share continued as before at 3.4 percent. Blackberry is fourth and saw its share drops from 2.9 to 2.3 percent. Symbian is fifth, dropping from 0.2 to 0.1 percent

The largest smartphone OEM in the US holds rigidly by Apple, with 41.9 percent of users in May, up from 41.2 percent in February, Samsung is recorded as second with 27.8 percent, up from 27.0 percent. LG is a far off third with 6.5 percent, took after by Motorola at 6.3 percent and HTC at 5.1 percent.

169 million individuals in the U.S. owned smartphones in May, up by four percent compared growth with February, as indicated by comscore. Facebook, Google Search, YouTube, Google Play, Pandora Radio, Google Maps, Gmail, Instagram, Facebook Messenger and Yahoo Stocks were the main 10 smartphone apps used by U.S. people in May.
